This year's competition is called "BreakAway". The object of the game is to shoot soccer balls with a robot into goals. Across the field are two bumps, each with a platform with a tunnel under it and a tower in the middle. Robots can go through the tunnel or over the bumps to move to a different section of the field. After the main part of the game, robots can score bonus points for climbing up the towers. You can view this year's kickoff video here |

Our team first formed in 2009 in hopes of doing well in the Portland Regional and Seattle Regional. Our team was very successful for a rookie team, we made it to the quarter-finals in Portland and we made it to the semi-finals in Seattle.
After the competitions we still had a busy summer. Romar (our bot) went on tour. We displayed Romar at assemblies at our school, took it to the boy scouts, presented it at 3 rotary meetings, and it even made an appearance at the Post Falls Library for their sci-fi reading night.
Romar was not the only person still doing things; some members from the team were counselors at a robotics summer camp hosted by N.I.D.A. Before the build season started this year, we hosted the World’s largest FLL tournament at Post Falls High School. |
